When you live in paradise, sometimes you forget to enjoy it. How many times have you shown visiting friends your city's sights and activities only when you have visitors? I did that a lot! And I still do. But on occasion, like Sunday, I took the chance to appreciate it. When we were invited out to a friend's place for linner (somewhere between lunch and dinner), my friend Faye threw out the idea to take tanks and go scuba diving from the shore!? What a concept!
Unlike many beach parties with just sand and surf, this one had a beautiful home, great friends, amazing food, incredible views, oh, and great scuba diving right outside their front door!
We hung out with a feeding Southern Stingray, and tried not to interrupt his meal. The funny thing was that he had a BarJack Buddy that wouldn't leave his side. Maybe she was female? They certainly seemed to have a very close relationship. The Barjack behaved as if she was jealous and tried to shoo me away.
Thanks to Don for gifting me his GoPro and Gary for the red filter, extra batteries and a charger, so I could capture this cool event. The red filter makes a huge difference in replacing the lost spectrum of light that disappears as you descend under water instead of having the red light filtered out, making everything appear grey/blue. I never really had a chance to test all this cool stuff out until Sunday (and shamedly admit to having had these toys for almost two years)!
We hung out with squid too, but that's in the next post!
